Recommended Washing Temperatures for High Efficiency Front Load Washers
Always purchase a HE low suds detergent available in tablets, powder, and liquid forms. Liquid is recommend for colors because they don’t contain bleaching agents that can ruin fabrics. You can also buy a liquid wool detergent for delicates. For whites and heavily soiled clothes you can use tablets that contain oxygen based bleaching agents.
If your clothes are lightly soiled or fairly clean, you can reduce the amount of detergent by one third ever load. This can add up to a lot of savings over a year.
The temperature at which you wash your clothes is very important if you want the best results. The general rule with laundry degrees are 60 degrees for whites, 40 degrees for colors, 30 degrees for dark color reds, delicates, woolens, silks.
Many people wash their clothes in cold water to save energy but this isn’t recommended, especially with soiled clothes. Washing clothes with cold water doesn’t let the detergent work effectively, leaving you with stains.
Front load washers also have a great advantage. They allow you to wash your clothes at temperatures of 90 degrees. Use this option for whites and laundry you would like to sanitize.
